Configure iSCSI Initiator on Window 10

In this article we will see how to configure iSCSI Initiator on Window 10 system. As previous we have seen how to Configure iSCSI Target and  Initiator on  Centos 7 / Ubuntu 15.10, refer below links.

Configure iSCSI Initiator on Ubuntu 15.10 Server

1) Run the iSCSI Initiator on Window 10 system.

The iSCSI Initiator that is installed by default in Windows 10. You can access it by searching on search bar, shown below screen shot.

2) Edit the configuration target from the iSCSI target server.

You need to add the Initiator Name from configuration section.

After that Enter the  IP address or domain name for your iSCSI target. In our case, we put ip address of iSCSI target server and click on quick connect, refer below screen shots.

On next screen, Targets that are available for connection at the IP Address that you provided are listed below.Click on Done button,refer below screen shot.

Then go to Volume and Devices tab, click on Auto Configure.

Now the Discovered targets has been connected click the “OK” button.

3) Make a file  system of the SAN Disk.

The iSCSI initiator portion of the configuration is now complete. Now go to run(Window+r) and type “compmgmt.msc”, refer screen shot.

We initialize a Disk 1 because on that disk we configure the ftp server. I chose a “GPT” type disk since the iSCSI target I am mounting is 4GB and may grow larger in the future.

Right click the “Unallocated” space and select “New Simple Volume”. From this point forward, any server admin should be able to handle it since it’s just like an internal disk.

Click on “Next” button on Welcome to the new simple volume wizard.

Specify the volume size.

Assign Drive Letter or Path.

Format the partition.

Click on “Finish” button on Completing the New Simple Volume Wizard.

As you seen on below screen shot, the disk is permanently mounted on the system.
